Reviews on events held at the Centre
Burns & Scots Night
Saturday 6th February 2010

George Forbes (Club President) welcomed every one and the selkirk grace before the meal was served; Robert Lovie addressed the haggis; after the meal Ian McIntosh gave his version of the Immortal memory of Robert Burns; Bruce Milton Toasted the Lassies with Deborah Leslie replying on behalf o the lassies. Deborah's humour went down well with the ladies present as she tactfully showed up us men.
For the entertainment we had Emily Cartney (11years old) who sang a couple of Burns love songs beautifully; Alistair Slater on the accordian who was then later joined by Ian McIntosh on the spoons; Raymond Jappy played the fiddle and was later joined by Robert Lovie on the Piano, then Raymond went onto the Piano and accompanied Robert while he sang; Pamela Whyte who piped in the haggis later did a few different tunes on the bag pipes (Pamela has piped for the Leisure Centre Burns every year from the beginning and at the end of the night Robert got the entertainers up on stage for a 'Stramash' with all of them together including Ians spoons!
The evening drew to a close with some community singing and auld lang syne!
Silly Connolly
Friday 6th November 2009

Marty Byrne as 'Silly Connolly' returned to the Leisure Centre this time to a packed hall! Every one were in histerics at the performance from Marty. He doesnt just look, sound and act like Billy Connolly but has that natural talent for stand up that makes every show unique.
Many had a great evening and a few stayed back to enjoy the disco provided to make a bight of it, a definate hit in Fraserburgh.
Red Hot Chilli Pipers
Saturday 5th September 2009

What a show! This sell out show went down a storm again this year with the addition of the sexy dancers and brass quartet added an additional atmosphere to the 2008 show.
Eager fans came from far and wide to see the 'Chillies' in Fraserburgh and were demanding encore after encore! Many fans have e-mailed the Centre asking when another return is planned! Who knows for now!
Watch this space!
Gary Mullen and the Works
'One Night of Queen'
Saturday 22nd August 2009
Gary Mullen went down a storm with a fantastic show in the exhibition hall with hundreds present to see him perform on the new huge in house stage. The additional follow spots and backline lighting added to the overall effect of the show and set a new standard of performance that the North East deserves!
Gary Mullen was so impressed with the added facilities that he announced his return to the fantastic crowd before dates were confirmed for a possible show next year. How could we deny Fraserburgh another return show?
The after show entertainment in the Bar lounge area was also a new facility that was very popular and enjoyed by those that stuck around after the gig.
WRESTLEZONE
Saturday 27th June 2009
A rowdy hometown crowd turned up to support the Broch's own Jason Rotanda as Wrestlezone made its debut in Fraserburgh.
Over 400 fans came out to support Rotanda's quest for gold, as he looked to wrestle the No Limits Championship away from champion, the "Best Wrestler in Scotland" Lionheart!
Rotanda came out to open the show, thanking his home town fans for coming to cheer him onto victory. However, he was soon interrupted by Lionheart, who said there was no way he was going to lose in tonight's main event. And so the scene was set…what's for sure, there was a big fight feel at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre, as the card got underway.
With the local support Rotunda successfully retrieved the belt from Lionheart and sent him on his way!
ZU2
Saturday 13th June 2009

ZU2 was an absolute pleasure to see live at Fraserburgh and certainly put on a show for the crowd. I have never had the opportunity to see U2 live but I cant imagine how they could better ZU2!
The band members were extremely talented musicians and also had great personalities that shone throughout their performance.
They played 'Vertigo' as an encore and was definately the way to end a fantastic performance.
FISSH - MID SUMMER BALL
Saturday 22nd June 2009
FISSH organised a charity ball for the second year running in aid of the local swimming pool in the exhibition hall and was hailed a huge success raising more than £7,000 toward the new swimming pool developement in Fraserburgh. This was one of many events organised by FISSH but is definately the largest indoor event that is held.
It is always great to see the exhibition hall turned round for a formal dinner with a bar and kitchen built specially for the occasion. The in house catering team served up a fine 4 course meal with table service for the drinks. The entertainment kept the floor full for the duration of the evening as everyone danced the night away.
